Second, no matter what happens never leave the place of your assignment unless God instructs you to do so. If you move when you are not led, God’s cover over you is also automatically removed and what follows would be a parade of tragedies. Abraham left where God planted him and decided on his own to go to Egypt. He started to lie and was ready to even trade his wife for money. He was eventually sent out of the country, disgraced.

Sometime ago, faced with a grim situation in Nigeria, I decided to relocate to the United States of America to enable me “permanently escape poverty”, according to my reasoning then. I got a job in a supermarket even though back in Nigeria I already had my Master’s degree and had done well in my career as a journalist. It did not take me a long time to realise I had missed God’s path. I saw quite a number of Nigerians there who were frustrated. They were stuck. Some married ladies they were not in love with just to enable them secure stay permits. Some were doing odd jobs they were not proud to expose to people. Most were not making progress, yet they were afraid to return to Nigeria. When I saw the situation of things, it dawned on me that I had made a strategic mistake. Shortly after, I packed my luggage and returned to Nigeria, the place in which He had planted me. And, the difference has not been lost on me.

Third, you must not sell out on your brand -for anything. Jesus stood by his assignments. There was a time the people he had healed and fed wanted to make him a king, he ran away by himself. He was too sure of his assignment to abandon it. You should remain committed to your assignment.

Step of faith: Take out time to list what you are currently doing that you think can sabotage your brand. Make amends now and correct your way.
Prayer of Faith: O Lord, forcefully separate from me individuals who have entered into my life with the sole purpose of truncating your purpose for my life.

I learned this in a bitter way: you can be a popular brand and still be dead broke! You need to learn how to turn your brand into unending streams of cash. And that is what this installment will show you in a moment.

Are you already seeing that God has cash plan for every problem you would ever face? Or better still, there is a cash reward for every effort you make to solve other people’s problem. Here is the secret. This is the ultimate step, the icing on the cake. Unfortunately this is where most people miss it. I did not understand this initially also. I had thought that becoming a brand on personal finance would automatically bring in cash. I was mistaken! Even though I was a brand on personal finance, most times I still found myself dead broke.
An incident that happened to me one day drove home the point. After what I considered a fulfilling week having appeared on a few television programme and got featured in about three newspapers, I got home one evening to meet a shocker. As usual, I wanted to throw banters with my wife but this time, she put up a different reaction. She took time to commend me on my television appearances and newspaper interviews. But shortly after the commendation, she reached for the file in one of the drawers in the living room, pulled out two sets of documents and tossed them to me. They happened to be letters from our children’s schools reminding us to pay up the children school fees, else they would not be allowed in. My wife did not stop there. She threw these punches at me: “Mr. Brand, please meet your financial obligations. When you do that I would believe you are a brand. What I can only say for now is that you are big outside, but very small inside!”.
Although it was more than I bargained for, that statement forced me to think. It became very clear to me that you could be as popular as anything but you could still be bankrupt even as a brand. Shortly after the conversation, I withdrew into my meditation room to think. Few weeks after that, I was able to come up with strategies of how to convert my brand into cash. Let me share with you two of specific things I did.

• I created seminar series
Having spoken on gratis (free of charge) for months, I decided it might be a good idea to create seminars people would be willing to pay for. The first seminar I created was on how to form and run investment clubs. It was done with a partner. I first wrote a series of articles on investment clubs in my column in Financial Standard. The reactions and responses I got from readers convinced me that they would be willing to pay if I organised a seminar. In one of the editions, I simply asked people who were interested in attending a seminar on how to form investment clubs to indicate by sending emails to me . My email box got filled in less than three days. Almost everybody wanted to be there. Eventually I introduced the price (N50,700). Ultimately we got more than ninety people in attendance with more people indicating interest in attending the next one. We conducted several seminars thereafter in Lagos. We got a minimum of 100 persons every time we conducted the seminar. We later took the seminar to other parts of the country.

• I launched my book
Having seen the level of contacts the brand had created, I decided to launch my book, The Millionaires’ Capsule. I simply sent out text messages to my contacts and surface letters to my friends in the industry whom I believed would be willing to support the launch. The book launch turned out a success. It was attended by the who-is-who in the corporate world. Also present in the launch was the then Minister of State for Finance who delivered the key note address.
In the process of time, I started to squeeze more income streams out of the brand I had created.

Now, I approach the finishing line.

After those series of income generating products I created, my bank accounts started to feel the impact. Not only was I able to meet my financial obligations at home promptly, I also decided to pull a fast one on my wife. A week to her birthday, I decided to buy a Toyota Corolla (cash down please!), the one they call “First Lady”. I kept it somewhere without announcing to anybody. On her birthday, which was a Saturday, I got another driver to take the car to a good restaurant in a choice area of Lagos State. I went there in the company of a friend. After having good lunch, I spoke in glowing terms about my wife, how she had helped when things were not rosy. After the speech, I informed her that I had a gift for her downstairs. She thought it was a birthday cake I wanted to give her. I simply ushered her into her brand new car. She was speechless… And I would not bore you with what happened at home that evening.
But I can share this with you for free “Her language” changed. Not only did she now consider me big outside, she said I had also increased my worth inside! Can anyone argue that cash is not king?

I am sure you are already itching to have all the tricks revealed to you. Don’t worry, they will come in a short while but there is something that you need to know first.
If you followed the steps highlighted above as instructed, by now you should have become an expert on that particular problem. With the information you have gathered on the problem, you should feel comfortable with any aspect of the problem. The next step is for you to turn yourself into a brand on the problem or that area of passion you have mastered. You may wonder what is or who is a brand?
I have a practical explanation for it. Someone told this story that illustrates what or who a brand is. According to him, some time ago, someone in the United States of America wrote a letter and put it in an envelope at the back of which was written Oral Robert. There was no other information at the back of the envelope. There was no address. No description. No mention of the state the letter was meant to be taken to. Surprisingly, however, a week after the letter was posted in a post office, the letter found its way to Oral Robert University (ORU) in Tulsa Oklahoma, which is the base of Reverend Oral Robert, the founder of Oral Robert University who was the beneficiary of the letter.
What happened? It means that Oral Robert (of blessed memory) had become so popular that even his first name alone was enough for people to identify him and area of passion. That is exactly what I am asking you to turn yourself into with the problem or the area of passion you have identified. Do everything possible to get people to identify you with that particular passion or problem and in the process of time you would become the one everybody would be talking to when they need to solve a problem on that area. Here are few things which I did and which you can do to turn that problem or your passion into a cash generating brand. Let me just share three out of the eight things I did. You can request for the entire steps from me later.
• I created a brand plan: Once I discovered that there were many individuals who would be interested in having their personal finance challenges solved, I created a two-year brand plan for myself in that area. What do I mean by this? I resolved that I would learn everything possible about personal finance such that within two years if you mentioned five persons in the area of personal finance in the country, I would feature among the first two. That is what has happened when I took the following other actions
• I Started a Column in a Newspaper: Once I was confident about my ability to solve a personal finance problem both for myself and others, I started a column named MoneyWise in Financial Standard newspaper where I was CEO and managing Editor then. I just started to tell people in a story format , my financial problems, how I met my financial mentors and I also started to share with my audience the solutions my financial mentors shared with me. The responses to the articles were unbelievable. Within a week, I got more than 500 emails messages from readers who were delighted about the column. Some of them offered suggestions on what I could add it. Years after that, I also started to write for Punch Newspaper under a column titled: The Billionairecapsules. That column alone has enabled me to generate database running into several thousands of fans. I will tell you the value of this later
• I Started to Give Free Lecture Series: As I continued to feature my articles in Financial Standard and The Punch I started to get invitations from every where churches, schools, mosques, NGO etc. All wanted me to come to talk to them on one area of personal finance or the other. I accepted most and I started to move from one speaking engagement to another, most of them gratis. But as I moved from one place to another, I started to notice that my presentations featured in newspapers and sometimes on television stations. It was amazing. And invitations continued to pour in.

There is nothing God would not do for those who are sold into His agenda. He would bless them beyond what they have ever experienced. That means no matter what you have accomplished in this world, your senses cannot fathom the greater glory, fame, honour, riches, happiness and health that God has reserved for those who are committed to doing His will. That is why you should consider those who dedicate their entire lives pursuing only worldly things as short-sighted. . If you build up yourself spiritually, you can travel regularly into realm of the spirit to catch a glimpse of what God has in store for you (1 Corinth. 2:10). That means if you align yourself with the things of God, you can build a company that is bigger than anyone you have ever seen or heard about; you can build a house that is bigger than what you have ever seen or heard about, you can build a church that has more followers than you have ever seen or heard about; you can be used the way nobody has ever been used before.

The ball is really in your court. God has no problem using anybody mightily. But there is a price to be paid. Are you willing to pay the price? When He blesses you, are you ready to use your wealth to finance His work? Would you not use the wealth to finance your lust? If you make up your mind to devote your life to serving God, He would take over from there. Don’t worry if you think for now that you don’t have the courage to serve God completely. Don’t worry if you think you don’t have enough resources to devote to serving Him. Don’t even worry if you think you don’t have all it takes to serve God. If He is the one who calls you, He would see to it that you are not disappointed or frustrated. He would not call you to start a project He would not finance. The problems usually start when people start to pursue their own agenda instead of God’s. He won’t be committed to financing a project He has not commissioned.

Step of Faith: Do you sense that God has called you into a particular ministry? Take courage and launch out in your own way. He will steer you correctly as you progress

Prayer Point: O Lord, crash every project I am currently handling that you are not involved.
